It is named after the Gujarati entrepreneur and Reliance group founder Dhirubhai Ambani. It is run by the Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation and is promoted by the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group.
The college offers B.Tech in Information and Communication Technology, M.Sc. in Information Technology, M.Des in Communication Design and M.Tech in Information and Communication Technology. DAIICT also offers Ph.D. program in various disciplines.
